HOW PEDHAM PLACE WILL AFFECT YOU

A new town of 2,500 houses, with 5000+ inhabitants

THE LOCAL PLAN: 2,500 houses, offices, light industrial units and warehousing, a park and

ride to Swanley, a health centre and school. Also included is a planning application for a 22,000

seater sports, concert and conference stadium, training ground and a hotel. There is a further

area marked for possible development. The development will impact on all areas of our lives:

TRAFFIC: Cars for 2,500 families equates to an unimaginable burden on our already congested

M20, M25, A20 and our local roads. There is only one access to the new town on the plan – on

to the Teardrop Roundabout. Parking in the village is a constant problem already.

DISRUPTION: Years of noise, and traffic disruption whilst building.

LOSS OF GREEN BELT land with associated noise, air and light pollution.

TRAVEL: A huge demand on our already stressed railway and bus systems.

POLICING: More stress on Kent’s already over stretched police force.

HERITAGE: The loss of peaceful historic village identity. The site is within

the Farningham boundary.
